In an attempt to gather all of the vegan-friendly restaurants around Hampton Roads in one place, I created a Google Map. This gives you a snapshot of restaurants and health food stores in the region that cater to vegan diners in one way or another - some more than others.
It’s still in the works, with more locations being added, but the map will give you a big picture view while I tackle the backlog of restaurant reviews I’ve got going. Plus you can add these locations to your own Google Maps online, or even on your iPhone. Whoa!
And if there’s something you think I should add to the map, please let me know!

hi! i have also started posting to a vegan friendly food map at http://www.communitywalk.com/vegetarian_guide
check it out!
Thanks for sharing, Diana!
San Antonio Sams has started offering Daiya cheese as a substitute for regular cheese on all their dishes. Only $1.50 upcharge. Nachos, quesadillas, that are WAY better than Pelon’s.
That is GREAT news! I tried Daiya for the first time out at zpizza in Virginia Beach. I’m generally not a San Antonio Sam’s fan, but that was when they were only offering cheese/sour cream-laden veg dishes. I haven’t had Pelon’s nachos or quesadillas, but I am a proud to say I had two burritos from there this week and the vegan fish tacos can’t be beat!
Two quick comments on the map:
1. It is great, thank you.
2. It clearly confirms that Ghent is basically the most awesome neighborhood in Virginia. Woooo Ghent!
